Education Opportunities

In-Person Courses

Thinking about starting a business in seaweed, microalgae or aquaculture? Check out this new opportunity!

The INSPIRE Restorative Aquaculture course, organised by EIT Food, the Polish Academy of Sciences and The Seaweed Academy, will run in October 2025 at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) in Oban, Scotland—and combines in-person and online learning.

Participants will receive hands-on training in the culturing methods of seaweed, microalgae, finfish, and shellfish, as well as algae biotechnology. The course also looks at the wider European aquaculture sector—its challenges, opportunities, and where innovation is most needed. Alongside the technical content, the programme includes entrepreneurship coaching, helping participants work in teams to develop new business ideas and shape them into practical, viable propositions.

The course includes live online sessions and five days on-site at SAMS, including a visit to the seaweed nursery and farm. Places are limited to 25, and applications close at 09:00 CET on 19 September 2025.
